What does "living the simple dream" mean to me?

I always hear people from our generation saying "Ahh, living the dream" when they are doing somthing our of the ordinary - for example: sipping cocktails in a spa of a fancy resort or perhaps they post "living the dream" as the caption beneath a photo of them moving into their new $500,000+ mansion-esque home they have just mortgaged their life away for. At first I was confused by how simple my ambitions were. All I wanted was to live in a caravan and be able to spend as much time enjoying the outdoors with my husband and son, without my husband having to be at work all the time. So for me, this became my simple dream. I find myself having those "Ahh living the dream" moments when I am sitting in a natural hot spring with my husband and son, drinking a beer, ten feet away from a crocodile infested river. Now mine, my husbands and my sons life is all about chasing our simple dream.

Enjoying the magic of dusk

I love being outdoors, there isn't anything quite like it. I love the smells, the breeze the colours, the sunshine, all of it. I find it hard to understand why people don't atrive to spend as much time outdoors as possible. When I walk outside I feel amazing, I feel relaxed and calm but energised and excited. There is so much out there to see, so much more than you know. Its also 99% free to be outside, no finances required. Kids can run around and be kids, adults can lay on the grass and soak up the sunshine, beautiful.

Us enjoying the sunset right before dusk at Mindil Beach in Darwin N.T a few months ago.

My favourite time of the day is dusk, especially in the summer months. The last few days when my husband has been arriving home from work at 6:30 pm, right on dusk, it has been wonderful. Weve grabbed a cold drink from the fridge and gone for a nice walk around the caravan park with our son. Everyone seems to be out at that time - enjoying themselves and BBQ-ing/drinking/socialising etc. Its such a magical time of the day.

I almost expect to see little glittering fairys and fire flys darting through the leaves of the trees, it feels that magical at that time of the day. The air has always dropped a few degrees and sometimes a breeze will have picked up, making walking around so much more comfortable.

Why not try it? Go for a walk with your family right on dusk this evening. Just walk around the block or straight up the street and back. I'm sure it will be a beautiful experience.
